Binevenue Forum - Choosing Right Inverter-Charger Zhoshua Gill (Hôte)
| | I’m currently upgrading the electrical system on my 36-foot sailboat and looking for an inverter-charger that can handle everything from navigation equipment to a small electric heater and induction hob. I’m running a 24V setup, and ideally, I want something robust that can integrate smoothly with solar and shore power. Reliability and smart energy management are a must because we plan to cruise mostly off-grid. Has anyone tried the Victron 24V units in this class? | | | | Richard (Hôte)
| | Yes, we recently installed the victron multiplus 24 3000 https://yacht-supply24.com/catalog/marine-electrical-equipment/victron-energy-electrical-equipment/victron-energy-pmp242300001-multiplus-2430007016-230v-vebus/ on our Baltic 39 during a full refit. What I really like about this unit is how intelligently it balances input sources — we switch between solar, genset, and limited dock power without needing to touch a thing. It has load assist and power boost functions that prevent overloads at marinas with weak shore supply. The inverter runs quietly and delivers smooth power to all sensitive equipment, including the radar and laptop, while still handling spikes from the galley gear. Also, the integration with the rest of our Victron network — especially via Cerbo GX — made setup and monitoring a breeze. It’s definitely not overkill if you're aiming for comfort and reliability on longer voyages. | | | | Zhoshua Gill (Hôte)
